Group 1 performed scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Group 2 will perform at the start of class on Monday.

HW due Mon: 1 page write-up on Shakespearean plays (plot of play chosen, how scene fits into plot, how characters you are portraying fit into plot). Also read text 346-350 complete flowchart on top of pg 346 and Skills Assess 1-3 on pg 349.

HW due Thurs: Continue work on Shakespeare projects. Brooke's group will perform at the end of class on Thurs. The other group will perform on Monday. All individual writing must be submitted by Monday. There will be additional homework assigned on Thursday that is due Monday as well.

Thursday, Jan 24th

In class, students were introduced to the early Renaissance in Italy. We viewed famous works by Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Rafael.

HW due Monday: read text pgs 342-345; complete 3 Reading Focus questions on top of pg 342.

In class on Monday, students used their homework to create pictorial time lines outlining 8 events in the development of Islam.

Thursday, Jan 10

In class on Tuesday, we reviewed the history and basic principles of Islam. We discussed Muhammad's birth, early life, the 5 pillars of Islam, the Quran, the Hijra and Sharia. Chapter 9 quizzes were returned to students.

HW for Monday: Quiz corrections; read text pgs 256-260; Complete "Taking Notes" time line on top of pg 256.
