Group 1 performed scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Group 2 will perform at the start of class on Monday.

HW due Mon: 1 page write-up on Shakespearean plays (plot of play chosen, how scene fits into plot, how characters you are portraying fit into plot). Also read text 346-350 complete flowchart on top of pg 346 and Skills Assess 1-3 on pg 349.

Tues, Jan 29

HW due Thurs: Continue work on Shakespeare projects. Brooke's group will perform at the end of class on Thurs. The other group will perform on Monday. All individual writing must be submitted by Monday. There will be additional homework assigned on Thursday that is due Monday as well.

Thursday, Jan 24th

In class, students were introduced to the early Renaissance in Italy. We viewed famous works by Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Rafael.

HW due Monday: read text pgs 342-345; complete 3 Reading Focus questions on top of pg 342.

Tues Jan 22nd

In class, students worked on posters on individual Muslim thinkers as well as concepts from Section 3.

HW due Thursday: read text pgs 336-341. Complete Assessment #s 3-6 on pg 341.

Thursday, January 17

In class, students formed groups to create concept webs. No class on Monday (races). HW for Tues: find 3 facts on your assigned Muslim thinker that are not in your textbook.

Tuesday, Jan 15th

In class, students presented time lines and viewed a video on Muslim civilization.

HW due Thursday: read text pgs 261-266; complete "Taking Notes" concept web on top of pg 261.

Monday, January 14

In class on Monday, students used their homework to create pictorial time lines outlining 8 events in the development of Islam.

HW for Tuesday: complete time line.

Thursday, Jan 10

In class on Tuesday, we reviewed the history and basic principles of Islam. We discussed Muhammad's birth, early life, the 5 pillars of Islam, the Quran, the Hijra and Sharia. Chapter 9 quizzes were returned to students.

HW for Monday: Quiz corrections; read text pgs 256-260; Complete "Taking Notes" time line on top of pg 256.

Tuesday, Jan 8th

In class on Tuesday, students completed a quiz on Chapter 9.

HW for Thursday: read text pgs. 250-255. In complete sentences, answer "A Sacred Duty" on pg 252 and Assessment #s 1, 3-6 on pg 255.

UPDATE!!

Use class period on Monday, Jan 7th to study for quiz on Chapter 9. Chapter 9 Quiz moved to Tuesday, Jan 8th.
